Craig Downs

...and His Magical Paintbrush

"For my part I know nothing with any certainty, but the sight of the stars makes me dream."  Vincent Van Gogh

Craig Downs has spent the last thirty years creating a bold and original style to call his own.
His signature art—on canvas and in murals—embellishes thousands of homes, businesses and public spaces
in the United States, Canada, Mexico and Europe. Craig's art is well known and loved from his hometown of St. Louis, Missouri,
to the Puerto Vallarta area of Mexico where he has spent the winter months for the past five years.
His paintings tell stories from the many places he's traveled and worked, including—now—the Pacific Northwest.

Craig now lives happily in the beautiful Willamette Valley of Oregon.
His inspiration comes from the Northwest's exuberant beauty and its rich indigenous arts.

His style has been referred to as allegorical, mythological, metaphorical, and whimsical.
But the stories he tells are for his viewers to interpret.
